New Zealand Immigration Medical Exam

Before booking your appointment

  1. There are 2 categories for the application: General Certificate and Limited Certificate. Please make sure which category your applications fall into.

    2. Let us know if you live in Calgary or out of town to ensure you complete the exams in a timely manner.

    3. If you are booking for more than one person, please let us know how many people need a medical exam and how old are each applications.

    4. Our office require a $50 non-refundable deposit upon booking to secure your appointment. Please make sure you need this medical exam as we won’t issue a refund if you end up not needing the medical. We accept Debit and Credit Card but no Cash.

    5. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please call us within 48 hours of your appointment.

What to bring

  • Original valid passport (without this, we won’t be able to do your medical)

  • Our clinic will provide you with the NZER # required to submit your application

  • If taking any medications, please bring a list along with the name and dosage

  • Eyeglasses or contact lenses for vision testing

  • You are no longer required to bring a photo. We will take the digital photos at our clinic.

  • Translator if the patient does not speak English

During the medical exam

  1. We will do a vision test, take height, weight, and blood pressure.

  2. The doctor will do a physical exam.

  3. You will be asked to undress as required by the standards set by the immigration authorities.

    • We have a male panel physician. If you are not comfortable, a chaperone can be provided for females if requested

    • A breast exam is not usually done unless there’s a history of breast cancer or a presumption of breast cancer based on the medical history

    • An internal exam is not examined

  4. After the waiting time, the exam for a young, healthy individual may take about 15 min whereas an elderly person or someone with complex medical history may take longer.

After the medical exam

  1. Our clinic is e-Medical enabled, which means we will be submitting the results electronically to the Immigration. After you finished the tests, we will receive all the report within 3-5 business days. If any of your tests are abnormal, we will let you know before sending the report.

  1. If you receive an email from immigration requesting you to do additional testing, please call our office to set up an appointment. Please note this visit will be an additional charge.

  2. The final decision is made exclusively by New Zealand Immigration Government, based on the medical facts collected by the doctor, not on the doctor's opinion or recommendation. After the report is submitted, the doctor has no further access to the case and is not informed about the outcome of your application. You will receive an answer directly from New Zealand Immigration Government.
